“Remember the things worthwhile come with, hard work, frustration, and determination.” –Tom Cahill, West Point Head Football Coach ‘66- ‘73. These words, spoken by my grandfather Tom Cahill, have inspired me throughout my life and are the foundation to who I am as an athlete. They remind me daily that there are no limits to what I can achieve as long as I am focused and willing to put in the work. Playing football at the collegiate level has been a dream of mine since the age of five and working hard is nothing new to me. As a freshman, for the first time since playing football as a youth, I wasn’t put on the starting line. With an 88 man deep roster, the coaches focused mainly on the sophomore players for starting positions. Although I initially felt defeated, I persevered, worked hard, and within weeks earned a spot on the starting line. The following year, as as sophomore, I was moved up to the varsity team and at our school’s homecoming, became the starting left tackle. Now in my junior year, I have moved to starting right tackle and continue to show strength, determination and leadership on the line.
In addition to my athletic success, I perform well academically. I understand that for my dream to play at the collegiate level to be realized, my performance in the classroom is as important as my performance on the field. I work hard in the classroom and currently maintain a 3.6 unweighted GPA and am a member of the National Honor Society. I am also involved in various clubs and community service organizations.
Overall, I am a determined, driven student athlete who is ready to take things to the next level. With the unwavering support of my family, I am looking forward to what the future holds and am excited about exploring all opportunities.
