Academics, athletics and a strong sense of God and Family are all things that are very important to me.
I am working hard in high school now so that after graduation, I am able to be a student / athlete at the collegiate level. Academically, I challenged myself in my first year of high school by taking an all Honors level curriculum. My GPA is a reflection of that rigorous course-load. An example of this would be that since 8th grade, I have taken both German and Spanish, and next year I plan on taking a 3rd foreign language so that I am as well rounded as I can be. I also was in the Honors level Inter-disciplinary course that was a back to back ELA and SS co-taught course.
Athletically, I am blessed with a great work ethic and focus in the weight room and on the field. I have benched 225lbs 20 times (360lb equivalent), and am able to squat 405lbs for a triple. I rushed for over 1,800 yds as a freshman on the freshman team, and scored 18 times while also having over 200+ yds receiving. In addition to these offensive numbers, I started in the middle for the defense and enjoyed a lot of success clogging up the middle and eating up tackles. I rushed for over 1,000 yds as a sophomore and was leading the special teams in tackles after 6 games.
Outside of school, I am involved in Young Life and am a devout Catholic. God has been very good to me and my family, and I work hard to live the a life that reflects my sincere thanks for all of the gifts he has given to me. I view myself as a leader in actions rather than words, and while this may not be the typical actions for a teenager, I am not concerned with how I am supposed to act or behave, rather I want to make sure I am representing my family, my faith and my school in the best light possible. Plus, my dad will be my Principal when the 4th high school in my district opens up, so that helps me stay focused on those things as well!
It is my ultimate goal to use my gifts and abilities to play at the college level, represent the school with class and work hard once I get there!
Sincerely,
Johnny Spinner
