Dear Prospective Coach,
My name is Ben Huefner. I’m a 6’3” Senior (class of 2022) weighing 300 lbs. I currently bench 420 lbs. and I am a football player who takes playing football seriously. During my freshman year, I started on both offensive and defensive lines due to my ability to learn and implement new plays quickly. My TAP assessment results showed a Knight profile indicating respect toward others, attempts to avoid errors, great listener, strong value system, and protective of team members. I believe I have character traits including a positive attitude, grit, competitiveness, team orientation, coach-able, and commitment to excellence, that would add value to your team.
I’m currently enrolled in the STEM program in the Olentangy Local School District in Ohio. This selective program provides a project based learning experience and mentor-ship opportunities for students interested in engineering and those who wish to pursue a medical degree. I am interested in pursuing engineering as a future profession. Although academic achievement is highly valued in my family and by myself, I am motivated to continue to improve my physical ability which will in turn improve my skills on the field. In addition to playing football, I am also training with the track team and currently throwing shotput.
Discipline and team work have been embedded into my upbringing. I trained in Tae Kwon Do for 6 years and have earned my 2ndDegree Black Belt, I competed in the Destination Imagination program for three consecutive years, and I am involved in planning and running a summer camp for kids living well below the poverty line in inner city Columbus for the second consecutive year.
I look forward to my progression on the field and am looking forward to playing football at the college level after completion of my high school graduation.
