When I was younger, I ran routes against my brother with my dad as a QB in our farm fields. Now that I'm in high school, I get to catch at least 200 balls everyday as my brother is the QB, which makes for a convenient training partner. My dad was a dual sport athlete in college, so I have grown up surrounded with a love of sports. I love all aspects of sports, which is why I work part time as a baseball umpire. Umping has helped me learn how to deal and work with all types of people and how to be a leader by taking control of challenging situations. In addition to umping, I co-own a sweet corn business, which also helps me athletically. I cultivate, plant, harvest and sell corn at my own farm stand, which allows me to push myself mentally and physically while working. The hot and hard days out in the field make workouts seem that much easier!
Beyond sports and work, I have always strived to enjoy many different things. When I'm not on the field; sports or corn, I love playing the guitar. I also enjoy reading. Some of my favourite books are: Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins and Relentless by Tim Grover. I find that working to achieve success in athletics can be enhanced by achieving success academically. I also enjoy learning languages. I'm working to graduate with a bilingual certificate in French and in my spare time, I have been working everyday for the past 3 years on German. I have a Duolingo consecutive day streak of 1, 326 days as of Aug. 1, 2020. Like a stereotypical Canadian, I enjoy competitive ice hockey and recreational snowboarding in my free time.
I am working hard to have the opportunity to play college football and add this next experience to my life resume!
