Dear Coaches,
My name is Joey Smith, I am a 6'1" 160 Ib Quarterback for Smithfield High School. I am a part of the 2023 graduation class. I have had a little bit of a different journey than most players. I joined the football team half way through the season of my freshman year as a running back, but my love for the game really took off in sophomore year. My sophomore year also happened to be COVID season. Going into the year, I was going to be a wide receiver with aspirations of getting varsity reps; but due to my teammates' encouragement in wanting me to switch to quarterback, that's what I did. I had never played quarterback in my life, and was the fourth on the depth chart at the time of my switch. However, over the season I worked my way up to second on the depth chart, getting starting time in the junior varsity team. Beginning of junior year, I am blessed to be the starting varsity quarterback for my team.
In college I am looking to take courses on nutrition and health, as well as play football. The big goal is to ultimately make it to the highest level of football, but I am definitely interested in a school with courses on nutrition.
I'm always making sure to do whatever it takes to be the best I can be. With me, you will get a high work ethic, and a drive to be the best player, teammate, and student I can be. I strive to be the best leader possible on and off the field.
