My name is Phillip Radford and I am a 6’0” 215lb, Tight End, punter, kicker, and strong safety. I have been playing football since I was a young kid. My freshman year I was a starting punter and kicker. I got 2nd team all district punter my freshman year. My sophomore year I started at defensive back and receiver which was a transition for me. My Junior year I was able to contribute in every aspect of the game and was named 1st Team All-Region Tight End, 1st Team All-Conference Tight End, 2nd Team Punter and Defensive Back. I was moved to Tight End to help with blocking but was also able to record 18 receptions for 406 including 7 TD's. I also played defensive back getting numerous pass break ups and 3 interceptions. I also continued with my kicking and punting averaging over 35 yards per punt. I am a very versatile player and a key contributor in every aspect of the game. I feel that I am fully committed to making myself and my team better every day. I am willing to do whatever it takes to benefit the team.
Here is a letter from my strength and conditioning coach/football assistant coach:
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this letter to provide extra insight into Phillip Radford as a student-athlete. I currently coach Phillip in strength and conditioning and varsity football at Floyd County High School. Phillip’s character, coachability, reliability, and versatility make him a core member of our program.
Phillip’s conduct off of the playing field is an example of the culture that any program would be proud to have. He is respectful, hard working, and humble. The way in which he carries himself extends not only to his classmates, but to his teachers as well. Phillip maintains an outstanding grade point average, while serving as a role model for other students.
In the weightroom, Phillip is a constant. He pushes himself to get better and embraces the competition of the environment. I have seen steady and continual progress in his strength and speed development each week.
On the playing field, Phillip is the consummate teammate and competitor. He has tremendous work ethic at practice that directly translates to his play on game days. Phillip is tough and does not miss a snap or an opportunity to get better. He takes criticism well, and he is incredibly coachable. Phillip is a student of the game, and he takes the extra time to study film to improve his understanding. He played multiple positions offensively (wide receiver, H- back, and tailback) and defensively (safety, cornerback, and outside linebacker) and he rarely came off the field, to include kicking and punting. His versatility and athleticism allowed him to make an impact in games from every side of the ball. He has great body control and excellent hands as well. In summary, Phillip is a game changer for our program.
Please feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions.
