Personal Statement
Hello, My name is Jake Shelton and man do I love football. I'm a 6'1 safety from Buffalo Gap High school in Virginia. Last year I played at outside linebacker but after working on my footwork, I will be playing safety this coming fall. I'm a versatile defender, capable of playing multiple positions effectively, even though I know I have a long way to go to reach my full potential. I am willing to play at any division level, at any school, and any state in pursuit of playing the sport I love. After my senior year I would love the opportunity to become a graduate assistant and "pay my dues" until I become a full time defensive coordinator incorporating my own version of Dick LeBeau's legendary Zone Blitzing scheme or "Blitzburg". I am more than willing to not only put in the work in the classroom and on the field, but also, in the film room. I love breaking down film, looking for tendencies or weaknesses displayed by the opposing team. In the classroom, I have been nominated for the NHS and maintain a cumulative GPA of a 3.6 . Out of all my peers in my gradation class, I have been nominated by my teachers to the national leadership seminar at JMU twice. I would love the opportunity to talk to any coach that has any interest in me, not only as a football player, but also, as a young man. Thank you for your time reading my statement and god bless!!
