My name is Corey Banks.
I live in Alberta, Canada but was born and raised in Australia for the first 7 years of my life.
I attend our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy and will graduate in 2022.
I have played basketball throughout my junior and senior high years, and have the privilege and honour of being named captain every year, receiving MVP Athletic Awards, from coaches and peers within the school.
I have been part of the local Bow Valley team and also travelled into Calgary to be part of the reputable Genesis Club.
I recently was selected in the U18 Team Alberta that will travel to the Canada Summer Games in August in Niagara
I put a lot of extra time into my game, practicing and working on my skills on and off the court. I am always thinking about basketball and ways I can improve individually, technically and how to enhance our team.
My parents have always said that to be a good student-athlete you need to strive for good grades, so we always prioritize education over athletics, while keeping a balance while still maintaining an intense athletic schedule.
My goals in the classroom consist of making the honour role at my school every year.
My athletic goals have always been to compete at the highest level possible, to push myself and learn from my coaches, peers and from my opponents.
My next goal is to play post secondary ball with a school that matches my academic needs with a competitive basketball program.
What I believe separates me from others, is that I'm a really hard worker and listener and I won't stop unless I‘m satisfied that I gave my best. I believe I am a very coachable athlete who is always wanting to learn and process new information.
While I have played other sports, each time I play a game of basketball I enjoy the challenge and comradery that comes from playing this game and want to play it at the highest level.
