- 2023 Spotlight #4
Personal Statement
My freshman year was in midst of Coronavirus and we played a condensed season wearing masks. I played JV as a freshman and played a pivotal role in our team’s success. I earned a starting guard position and we had an undefeated season, going 14-0.
My sophomore year, I was moved up to Varsity. I went from the sixth man role to a starter. The experience helped increase my mental and physical toughness.
My junior year, my head coach resigned in August. The season started with a new head coach and I retained my starting position. During the Thanksgiving Riverside Brookfield Tournament, we went undefeated and won the Tournament. I was rewarded with 2022 Varsity All Tournament Team.
I started playing basketball when I was 6 years old and I LOVE the game. My journey has made me the player that I am today…. Tough, focused, disciplined, determined. I love doing the extra things in basketball such as waking up at 5:30 am before school to workout, running hills and sprints, and participating in defensive drills. I am a leader on and off the court who is not afraid to communicate to my teammates. My coaches describe me as unselfish, getting my teammates involved and leading by example. I am coachable and I accept criticism as a means to improve. I have the ability to score from all three levels, I have exceptional ball handling skills, and I have a high basketball IQ. I also take pride in playing defense. My goal is to play college basketball while earning a degree. I am willing to make sacrifices, and I have a strong work ethic.
