I am 18 years old from Nairobi, Kenya. I play primarily as a point guard and secondarily as a shooting guard .During my first year of senior high school, I suffered a back injury which resulted in multiple spasms. As a result, I sat out the remainder of the season as I watched my team get eliminated in the quarter-finals for the third time in a row. It was then that I learned the arts of perseverance and patience. After 5 months of rehabilitation, I was blessed with another chance to grace the court, this time leading my team to the 2016 county championship and earning us a slot in the regional playoffs where we came in as second runners up. This earned me an opportunity to captain the under 18 Kenya team in the 2016 Zone 5 FIBA qualifiers, where we came in at second place after a heartfelt loss to Uganda. Soon after, I was invited to participate in the Toronto Raptors 'Giants of Africa' camp, which hosted the top 50 elite student athletes from Kenya, Uganda , Tanzania and Sudan. It was not until then that I appreciated the use of basketball and sports as tools to improve the community.
Basketball has improved my ability to communicate with people and enabled me to be compatible with a variety of kinds of teams and coaches. My years as a student athlete have taught me how to thrive under pressure which has made me very conscientious, and enabled me to realize my athletic and academic potential.I am confident that I have the talent, desire, commitment, and leadership qualities that are required to not only play for, but also create a positive impact on your college team!
