Personal Statement

My name is Traejon Stone and I'm a senior at Martha Layne Collins High School in Shelbyville, Ky. My current goals upon graduation is to play college basketball as I work toward a degree in either engineering or sports science, management or medicine.  Basketball to me is more than a sport. It is quite like life in that you only get better at things through learning, hard work and pairing up with people with similar goals to achieve greatness and success.

I am the first of my family that will be attending college and as the oldest brother I feel the need to set a good example for my younger twin siblings. Throughout all my victories and defeats on the court I find it most important to be in the moment with my team and make sure to be a sportsman on and off to the floor. Basketball is a part of my life but it is not everything. I desire to be the best player and teammate possible while always striving to be a man of character and have humility in all that I do.  To the coach who allows me to be a part of their vision I will work my butt off on the mental, physical portions of the game and do all I can to foster a winning, positive culture with my peers and those who support the university. My game is founded on the age old teaching that defense wins championships and that effort and focus will provide the best chances to win and close out even the most challenging of moments.
