I am passionate about competition and the ability to smile, both of which I find in the sport of volleyball. I have played volleyball since fifth grade, and have grown and learned many life lessons over the years. In college I plan on majoring in Biology. My dream is to be a medical missionary around the world. I am a Christian, and my relationship with Christ is the most important thing in my life. I have learned many difficult lessons over my years as a player--lessons that make me the person and athlete that I am. I have learned resilience and the importance of never being afraid to take a 'punch' that life may throw. I have learned the power of feedback and constructive criticism. I have learned grit and determination. I have learned what it means to lead. I have learned how to overcome. I have learned how to accept and grow into change. And most importantly, I have learned to smile and mean it, no matter the circumstances. Volleyball will one day end, but my value will remain. These mindsets and beliefs are qualities that I bring to every team I am a part of. Not every game will result in a highlight reel, and not every moment is going to be fun or smooth-sailing. It is in those hard moments that true character is built, and it is in those moments that I have grown comfortable. That is what the sport of volleyball has taught me. The thing that excites me the most is knowing that there are many more lessons to still learn, and that God may be willing to lead me into another opportunity to do just that: continue to learn.
