Personal Statement
Sports have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I excelled at football, basketball and lacrosse throughout my childhood. When I entered high school, I knew I wanted to focus on my passion, basketball. I started playing basketball at the age 6 and primarily played shooting guard from the beginning but I've always had an ability to see the court, anticipate and play tough defense, which made me a more balanced player.
I think I was born competitive and driven to be the best, but with that comes high expectations for myself and being my own harshest critic both on the court and in the classroom. Basketball has helped me develop how I personally work through challenges whether on or off the court. Being a “shooter” I’ve had to work through slumps with a positive attitude to find other ways to contribute to the success of my team while working on getting my shot back.
Being able to compete at the highest collegiate level has been my dream since 6th grade and I work every day to achieve that goal both academically and athletically. Given the opportunity I will strive to be become a better dynamic and positive player throughout my college basketball career and I believe I can be a valuable asset to a college team.
