Hello to all that are reading this
I am a young athlete from Malawi Africa. I am looking to enroll into a college that can help boost my ability .
Getting an MVP in a sport I never really played in my younger years gave me the boost to love the game I play today. Nothing but raw passion towards the sport I play today. Made me grow as a person and start to realize what impact I had on the team not just brining my abilities physically but my perception of the game through my mind. I see basketball as a whole different world, a place where I can let myself go free and help others to help others. Basketball really has been a ig part of my life In Malawi.
Malawi shaped me. All though I am Zimbabwean by blood, I am pure Malawian breed. Age 16 I know more values of life than I would have ever imagined myself having. My neighbor hoods changed over the years because our family constantly moved around. This meant I had trouble making connections with people with the fear of knowing I have to soon leave them, but that didn’t stop me from making friends who until today are still a big part of my life. My first neighborhood that I myself remember is one where we had one of the biggest houses there. Everyone wanted to come over. This taught me to accommodate different people from different backgrounds, and until today I still live by that. I meet so many different people in my life but being able to sit down and accommodate their feelings, thoughts or opinions on things is something that I value highly in myself. We struggled. My family used to sell airtime scratch cards which made about 200 kwacha profits which is equivalent to about 50 cents a day plus the wage my dad got which was constantly used up to pay for my sisters college tuition plus my older brothers high school tuition. It was crazy for us but that environment taught me not to take anything for granted, remembering where I come from and why I am here today. It shaped me to never give up. My dad now has a job that allows me to attend a school like Tampa. Growing up a faithful Christian also gave me all the strength to believe and have hope towards my future goals. Believing I have the strength to do anything I set my mind to is something Christianity taught me. Ive learnt to accept their others who have better or more than me. Bigger houses, bigger futures but I needed to make sure I focus on mine by always asking myself what do I want to be? Ive accumulated so many answers but one that stands out to me is wanting to go professional, because of my drive towards it and my determination towards anything. As a person my neighborhood shaped me to understand 3 things 1, to always respect where you come from and who comes from where because both of you could put together 2 different ideas to make one big achievement . Number 2, to never give up against the odds. No matter who’s around who’s watching and who is better than me, I have my own given talent and hunger to be better so I focus on my own work and keep moving forward. Third is giving back to my people. Even at a young age iv learnt to always give back o the people around me because they helped me.
My primary position is point guard and my secondary is shooting guard
I started playing basketball when i was 9 and ever since i was 13 i was already the sixth man in my senior team in high school and now im 15 and being top 3 pick for the starting 5 , and ive been in the team ever since progressing along side everyone but also building on my personal areas as a leader. In my years 7-8 i was captain of my team for two years running and in year 9 i was head captain again and in year ten i fixed myself as vice. As the years passed competition got higher but i maintained my mindset to only surpass my levels that i didn't know i could reach and that has helped me greatly to start to realize the potential i have. 2 MVP medals in years 9 and 10 and runner up a few times.
Ive been involved in many camps around Africa such as Zimbabwe Zambia South Africa and here in Malawi
Ive been called upon 3 times by national scouts to join the U15 and the U18 teams to perform and play against international countries in the continent.
my experience as been building and as a player ive been building and i know potential is there to be unlocked
ive been to multiple camps and ive come out with loads of experience. My dream is to unlock my potential fully and give back to the school i go to by putting in 101% effort in all i do be it academic or the court. All that matters to me is reaching out and grabbing that goal ive been dreaming for whether it be going pro or starting my own basketball programme for kid like me who struggled to find their way to sports such as basketball.
