Personal Statement
I'm looking for a school with a strong varsity athletic program and an established academic reputation. Division I is not a requirement. Division II or III would be fine as well. I carry a 4.36 GPA, and I’m ranked 8th in my class. I've never scored less than an A in any course, and I'm confident that I can continue to function at that level in a college environment.
I'm an extremely goal driven person who does not get discouraged easily. I did not make my Middle School team as a 7th grader. That motivated me to work hard over the summer and I made the team in 8th grade. Even though I didn't see much time, I again used the summer to go to camps, work on my body and refine my skills. That led to a starting position on the High School JV team as a Freshman. Since then I’ve lettered as a varsity starter both my Sophomore and Junior year. I pride myself in my defense, shot blocking ability, rebounding technique and effort level. I'm a good shooter with excellent quickness, and I can easily get to the rim. My current objective is to work on my ability to create quality shots for myself and others. For me it’s all about putting in the work. My coaches will tell you that they often see me heading out to a weight workout right after a 2 hour practice. I love the grind.
In addition to my academic achievements and my progress on the basketball court, I am a Varsity level baseball player and I play trumpet in the school's elite band program. My intent is to add value to any team that I'm a part of by leading by example, promoting partnership and bringing pride/passion every day. I feel strongly about being the best teammate I can be. In my book nothing is more fun than seeing it all come together to help the squad succeed.
