JOSE MEDINA SANCHEZ '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is José Enrique Medina Sánchez, and my plans are to study criminal justice, forensic psychology, or any other related field.  I am working very hard in the academic and sports environment to achieve my goals and to become an excellent professional.  As an athlete, I would like to play and compete with the best of the world, either in the NBA in the United States or any other country.  One of my biggest dreams is to be able to represent my country internationally or even in the Olympic Games.

Some of my qualities are: to work hard at everything I set my mind to, persistent to meet my dreams (never give up), committed, responsible and friendly (team player).

I’ve been playing basketball since my 9 years of age.  As of today, I belong to CIAPR Basketball Club, (Colegio de Ingenieros de PR), Division 1 team, which I have won several championships.  During this year I played with the travel team of Rising Stars, were I had the opportunity to travel and play in Orlando, FL.  In that tournament, we won 2nd place in our division.  I also played 2 times this year at Daytona Beach, FL.  The second time I participated In the Dynasty Hoops tournament, we won the championship and I was also classified as the MVP player.  Also, this year, I played at the PR Junior Olympics 2021, which our team won the championship and again I was classified as MVP player.  As of now, I am playing at the PR Basketball Federation tournament, 17 years category.  During this tournament I was selected to play in the All-Star Game of the FBPR. 

But the most recent and important achievement as a result of my effort and work is;  being selected by the Basketball Federation of Puerto Rico for the Pre-Selection 17U of our national team, unfortunately I was not chosen for the final team, but I am proud of my performance.  This is invitation only selects the best players form the country and I was able to make the last 15 players.

Academically, I am in 12^th grade in Colegio Bautista of Caguas, PR.  This school offered me a 100% full scholarship, due to my basketball skills.  They are considered as the best Division 1 basketball team. 

Before this opportunity, I was also a 100% scholarship holder at Colegio De La Salle, where I studied until 11^th grade.  There, I was a member of the sports council, basketball, volleyball, and athletics team.  In this last, I won several events such as 1500M, 800M, 4 X 400M and high jumping sport.

I consider that I will be of great benefit to your college, not only for my abilities in basketball, but for my determination, commitment, and strong desire to accomplish my goals and become a great professional.
