Brandt McLean '24 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6’6” small forward/center from Saskatoon, SK, Canada.  My love of sport instilled in me through my family, started at a young age playing whatever sports were available in our small town.  While I’ve been a multisport athlete starting hockey and baseball at the age of 5, my interest in basketball flourished through competition with my older cousins (both of whom went on to compete in University level athletics) and transition to high school (grade 7). The challenge of no freshman year league basketball, presented by COVID, proved my commitment to training.  With no gym or formal competition, I set out to hone my skills and learn everything I could about the game.  From dribbling in my garage and shoveling the school outdoor court off in the middle of winter, to pickup games on the street with friends and competitive adults in the summer and studying NBA games and highlights, I did all I could to improve.  I was a part of Basketball Saskatchewan’s NXT UP Program in the Summer of 2021 and 2022.  My Grade 10 year, my playmaking, defense and rebounding were my biggest assets to our team. In 2022 I've participated in Saskatchewan Home Court Summer League and Fall Training as well as Golden Ticket North Top 40 Pre-Season camp.  For the 2022-23 high school season, I'm a first year player known for using my height, vertical and agility to excel at rebounding and overall defense. In the spring I was apart of the Golden Ticket Basketball Club and we went to europe for one of the largest tournaments in the world.  

My goal in my senior year is to be able to help my high school team win a provincial championship, continue to improve my basketball skills, make and graduate on the honor roll. I am looking for a post secondary institution where I can pursue an education in the sports industry/psychology and achieve my dream of playing higher level basketball.  I am open to all divisions and locations in my pursuit of furthering my education and athletic experience
