While growing up in Indiana, I played several sports as a little kid and was always told that I was a natural athlete. I started out playing soccer and football, but it wasn’t until my mom signed me up for basketball at the YMCA that I knew I had found my game. Not only did I learn how to dribble and shoot the ball, but I also learned sportsmanship, teamwork and all the fundamentals of the game. I totally fell in love with basketball. Because of basketball I learned to set goals for myself and to want to be the best that I could be.
I have a wonderful and supportive family that keeps me grounded. Like most every other kid my age I dream of playing basketball in the NBA. Because of my family, I know that right now my high school and college careers are what is important. I have worked very hard to do the best that I can and am currently on the medical track. Becoming a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant by the time I graduate from high school will be a very big accomplishment.
I believe that one of the abilities that I have improved on is that I can view the floor and quickly adapt to changes in the game. Getting to where I need to be allows me to get the ball to teammates that are available to make the basket, as well as being able to box out players on the opposing team.
Basketball goals that are on my current list are to get as many rebounds as possible and consistently knock down three pointers. Also, to execute my part of the play so when the opportunity presents itself, I can find different ways to get my teammates open. My defensive goals are as always to stop the other team from scoring and to box out and grab every rebound possible.
