Personal Statement
When one thinks about collegiate goals and aspirations, it makes me reminisce on my life growing up and what gave me my drive and motivation to be successful. I will start off by saying that I have been fortunate enough to hold many talented tools under my belt as it refers to sports, since I was a kid. Coming from a family of football stars from UCLA, and my dad being a star athlete who played high school and college football, many would have thought football would be my choice, but I loved to dribble more than getting tackled. However, throughout my life I played football, basketball, baseball and ran track. Sadly, I was hit by a truck when I was 10 years old and left to die. I never thought I would be able to do anything again, but I knew that their was a plan for me, and within 2 months I was back and stronger than ever. I knew that I was the chosen one and I would be great in life and make my parents proud. I would be the best basketball player ever and pursue my collegiate goals and dreams at a college basketball powerhouse. Moreover, I ensure that I am talented on the court as a point guard, as well as certifying that I guard my grades because Academics has always been priority and then Athletics for me. I not only want to be a college ball player, but I want to pursue a degree in Business and be able to start my own shoe line and open up many stores. I believe I am an exceptional candidate for any team because I uphold the most important basketball attributes which are: I am strong-willed, motivated, passionate, possess great character, a team player, and most of all, COACHABLE . I have witnessed many great players throughout my years of basketball including little league, school basketball and summer AAU teams I have played for where players were great, but not coachable, and although confidence and perseverance were great personas to uphold, their attitudes and withdrawal to be a team player were not appreciated, and I witnessed them have their dreams taken away. I am an elite basketball player, but I want my coach to make me a champion! I have the mindset to want to learn, rather than coming in as if I am the coach. I am confident in myself as a teachable player, my academics and better yet a go-getter attitude that is required for not only being an exceptional player, but the epitome of a good man.
