Personal Statement

I am a 5'8 senior point guard at Lakes High School. I am now the captain of this young team. I am really taking on this leadership role. I am trying to help my team get as deep into the playoffs as possible, my goal is to win a state championship in my last year of high school. My primary position is point guard but I can aslo play shooting guard as I am the third leading scorer on this team averaging about 10 points a game while also averaging 5 assists per game and 4 steals. This season I have really been focusing on knocking down wide open as well as contested shots. In the last few years my shooting has really improved. I love passng the ball finding my teammates and keeping them happy. A assist feels equally as good as scoring myself. Basketball is one of the most important things in my life but academics are just as important to me.

I want to continue playing basketball in college but I also want the chance to get a good education. I want something to fall back as I know that few make it professionally in the sport of basketball. I would like to Major in health and human services or business and law. My goal is to obtain a degree regardless of the institution. I am a hard worker and have a willingness to learn. I have a great family that supports me throughout whatever, they push me to get better as well as keeping my grades up. I also surround myself with great friends who want the best for me and who also keep me on track making sure I'm doing the right thing. In the end I most definately want to play basketball in college, I'm very coachable but if I do go to college I hope to go to one where I can have an impact and a opportunity to compete.
