Hi, my name Alek Lechuga and I am a Junior from Chicago. I am fairly new to golf, as I just began 3 years ago. I played travel soccer since the age of 3, but when I discovered golf, I fell in love with the sport. Golf is very different than playing a team sport, but I am learning how to handle the mental challenges when out on the course by myself. My coaches would describe me as a very disciplined and coachable athlete.
For the past two years I have been a caddy at my local Country Club . I have learned new skills due to caddying such as communicating and building a trust with the members. Caddying has also helped in high school golf, as I am able to give teammates advice and encourage them to stay positive out on the course.
As a Mexican-American I hope to inspire all cultures including my own to embrace golf like I have. I know that not only do I have the talent to compete for a college team, but also the work ethic and leadership skills to make an impact in your program.
