Having a father as a golf coach helped heighten my drive and desire to be part of our high school's golf program. My freshman season I thought I would finally get that opportunity to pursue this dream, but two weeks in Covid-19 cancelled our season. This was very heartbreaking because I was ready for the opportunity to represent my school on the golf course. After the initial shock and disappointment of our season getting cancelled I realized that this was a blessing in disguise. I was able to be on the golf course daily during the pandemic, and able to learn different things about myself during this process. I learned the values of perseverance and dedication during that time off. By the time my sophomore season rolled around both my physical and mental game were better than ever. Our team won conference for the first time in school history, and I qualified for the State tournament.
As I work my way through high school I want to become a better person, student and athlete. Golf has been a great tool to help with this goal. I have learned how to deal with adversity both on and off the course. The mental toughness that is needed to succeed on the golf course is the same that is needed to be successful in life. I am excited to continue my journey in golf and find a school that is the right fit both academically and athletically.
