I have grown up in the game of golf. Living in an area such as Fox Chapel, it is hard not to be associated with this game considering Oakmont Country Club, The Pittsburgh Field Club, Fox Chapel Golf Club, and The Longue Vue Club are all within close proximity. My father and grandfather both played lots of golf in their day, and my extended family has a history for playing golf. It's just a family tradition. I have been playing golf since I was about 8 years old. Ever since I could grip the club, I was out chewing up my front yard practicing chip shots.
As I have progressed in playing, I have come to realize it is not just a game. It teaches you a lot about life as well. As in golf, life isn't always going to bounce your way. Some times you get unbelievably lucky, and other times you get unlucky. It is hard to drop a tough past in life, or a double-bogey in golf, and move on. However, those who succeed are the ones who are confident in their ability to do better in the future. I have evolved as a leader through golf as well and serve as the caucus president for my class in student government. My personal goal is to lead our team to a WPIAL and State Championship as well as to achieve these goals on an individual scale. Ever since I started playing high school golf I have wanted to play college golf and I intend to work hard and do so.
