My dream for the future is to play golf at the highest level possible while obtaining a university degree. At present, the areas of study that are of interest to me include, optometry, business, engineering and finance. I am currently attending Martin Collegiate in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and have been on the Academic Honor Roll for the past two years. For the last three golf seasons, I have been employed at the Royal Regina Golf Course, where I have learned to appreciate the value of hard work and learning from others. I have gained a new understanding of the many aspects of the world behind the actual game of golf.
Playing college golf is not only an individual experience, there is a team aspect to it. I look forward to being part of a team as I get along very well with people and I have strong interpersonal skills. I always support my fellow golfers and cheer them on even when I am not as successful. Team sports have always been a major part of my life. I have played football, soccer and continue to play hockey at a high level.
In the summer of 2020, I received the Archie Cameron Award from the Royal Regina Golf Course. The award is in recognition of an individual who displays characteristics of leadership and humanitarian qualities such as integrity, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm for the game of golf and their fellow players.
My StrengthFinders strengths are: competition, self-assurance, responsibility, includer and significance. Over the past five years I have worked with my golf coach to improve my game and skills. I have seen the value of hard work and have noticed major improvements in my golf game and in my grades at school. I try to live a healthy lifestyle with a balance of spending time playing or practicing golf and hockey, as well as spending quality time with friends and family. I have surrounded myself with good people who are individuals my own age, adults and my grandparents.
Community is important to me and to give back I have volunteered at the Regina Food Bank and at the After School Enrichment Programs at Mother Teresa Middle School. I would be very proud to be a part of a college community while pursuing my academics and helping to create a positive college culture and future in golf for myself and others.
