Golfing has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Two years ago, I set the goal of attaining a golf scholarship which would allow me to play the game I love while I obtained a college or university degree. In order to achieve this goal, I have put in thousands of hours on and off the course to achieve it.
I have a dedicated work ethic that translates into my golf game, the classroom and the gym. This year alone I have won two MJT Tournaments and placed in the top four in the other two that I have played in. I have attained a 3.3 GPA, created a gym schedule for myself and worked part-time. Two off seasons ago I committed to working out five times a week. In the four months of working out I lost 16 pounds and cut my body fat percentage in half. My ability to balance all these areas of my life takes discipline and hard work. My first golf competitive memory is playing with my Dad, he would pretend to be Tiger Woods and I would be Phil Mickelson. Although we were just playing a friendly game it taught me to compete and dream big.
Over my years of golf, I have picked up many wins and top three finishes but the two that I am most proud of are the two MJT wins I had this year. The reason that I am most proud of these two is that I put in a lot of hard work over the winter months, practicing with my coach in his academy using his GC quad and creating a plan for the mind part of the game with my mental coach. When the season started I was ready and won two tournaments. I also placed 25th out of a field of 97 in the Saskatchewan Mens Amateur Championship with a three-day total of +8 (79,74,71). This coming September I am representing Canada and the MJT in the 2018 Junior Nordic Team Matches held in Tahkuranna, Estonia. This event is a competition where Estonia, Finland, Sweden, and Canadas Jr Teams Compete in a 4-day match play event. I am very excited and proud to represent my country.
