Personal Statement

Hello my name is Brice  Reichard. I am a junior golfer from Amherst VA. I have been playing golf for 4 years now and I have absolutely fallen in love with the game. My love came from my grandfather who played almost everyday. Golf was a way we connected and it really inspired me to be the best I could be. I want to play golf at the collegiate level while continuing my academic career. I am very dedicated and have worked hard to accomplish a lot of my goals. In the past 2 years I have won almost all of my district matches and tournaments, have had numerous top 5 finishes in VSGA tournament, and I have also placed second in the region 2 times in the 4a tournament sending me to states back to back years. One day I would love to play golf at the professional level and I believe I have what it takes.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Hall of fame
  • 8/27/22 to 8/28/22
  • First day had 2 OB balls and shot 77(+5) second day shot 68(-4) and made every putt I looked at.
  • Camp/Event
  • Blacksburg VSGA
  • 5/08/22 to 5/09/22
  • This event will be at a course I have played before and I’m hoping to rank highly I will update right after tournament with score
  • Camp/Event
  • Blacksburg VSGA UPDATE
  • 5/08/22 to 5/08/22
  • I hit the ball pretty well all things considered with the conditions but I did not putt very well. I couldn’t seem to find a birdie but I had a lot of good pars. With an unfortunate double on a par 4 which hurt my round. I hit a good tee shot and went through the fairway and I was only left with a punch shot and then found the back sand trap. I finished with a 76(+4) but finished T7 for the tournament which wasn’t bad. Just goes down as another top 10 for me and i plan on improving for the VSGA Amateur Qualifier in the next few weeks.
  • Camp/Event
  • MAPGA/VSGA Jr 4 Ball
  • 3/26/22 to 3/27/22
  • Played 2 pretty good rounds individually shot 75 first day and 74 the second day. The greens were punched so no putts really rolled true but regardless was a fun tournament. Was really cold with lots of winds probably felt about 30 degrees with lots of wind.
  • Camp/Event
  • Regions tournament
  • 9/27/21 to 9/27/21
  • This was a really fun event I placed 2nd and was in the top three sending me to states for the second year in a row. I shot a 73 and was really happy with my game. It was only my second time seeing the golf course but I felt like I did very well getting up and down and really gave myself a lot of looks just couldn’t seem to roll in the 10 footers all day. Only the top 3 in the region advance to states so I am really looking forward to playing this year.
  • Camp/Event
  • District tournament
  • 9/13/21 to 9/13/21
  • This was my district tournament I placed top 5 and was put in the first team all district for the second year in a row I shot a 74 and placed tied for 3rd place.
  • Camp/Event
  • VSGA @ BOONSBORO CC
  • 8/01/21 to 8/01/21
  • I felt like I struck the ball very well I hit a lot of great shot and my chipping around the greens was top of the line. I missed a few birdie opportunities throughout the day but what hurt the most was losing a ball after the ball rolled through the fairway into the rough and wasn’t able to be found. I was forced to play it as a lost ball but proceeded to finish the day at only 74(+2) and placed me in 3rd for the tournament out of 22 juniors. I took a lot away from this tournament showing myself that i have the ability to win these tournaments and that it just wasn’t my day I thought that my clubs were hit well and that after working on my chipping that it really started to work in my favor.
  • Camp/Event
  • VSGA tournament
  • 5/16/21 to 5/16/21
  • Today was a good day I finished at 74 which finished me at 4th place overall beating the number 2 and 3 in the state. I could not get a putt to go in the hole all day but my irons and wedges were dialed all day it was a great challenge and I’m looking forward to the next tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • 4a states golf tournament
  • 4/19/21 to 4/19/21
  • This will be my first year playing in the states tournament and I’m the first athlete from Amherst to go to a state golf tournament in years. I’m extremely exited and I will update with the turnout of the event tomorrow. My tee time is 11:00 tomorrow
  • Camp/Event
  • 4a Regions tournament
  • 4/09/21 to 4/09/21
  • This was an extremely long day my tee time went off at 11:08 and we were rolling pretty smooth until we made it to the turn on number 9 there began heavy rain and it continued all the way to the tee box on 12 which was stopped my a lightning watch we were all sent back to our busses for about 2 hours to wait for the storm to clear. After the storm passed were were brought right back to our balls and told to play out the rest of the day. I finished the day with a 76(+4) and was tied for 3rd place with 2 other golfers and the officials went into a meeting to discuss the winner of the third place spot and after calculating the last 6 holes scores I was named the 3rd place title which qualified me for states.
  • Camp/Event
  • Junior 4-ball tournament #2
  • 3/20/21 to 3/21/21
  • I finished the tournament with a 74(+2) first day and 76(+4) second day ending the weekend with a 150 (+6) if I could go back to one thing it would have been putting. The greens were aerated just a day before the tournament so a lot of the pits weren’t good roles but with all things considered I was pleased with my performance and I will be looking forward to next year
  • Camp/Event
  • London match #2
  • 3/17/21 to 3/17/21
  • I won as an individual with a good score for the conditions I made some really good puts as well as some good birdies and I was pleased with my performance excepting the conditions
  • Camp/Event
  • Winton match
  • 3/10/21 to 3/10/21
  • I finished 3rd place after a though day of playing I hit the ball well but I could not get a putt to drop.
  • Camp/Event
  • London match
  • 3/03/21 to 3/03/21
  • I finished in first place and won the tournament as a team and as an individual.
  • Camp/Event
  • Junior 4 ball championship
  • 8/30/20 to 8/31/20
  • Finished the tournament tied for 25th and shot 85(+13) the first day and 73(+1) the second day with a combined 158(+14) for the two days after never seeing the course before. The first day I played to many risky shots for the first time playing the course and the second day i knew where to play the ball and shot a solid score. This event taught me patience and to get a good understanding of the course before playing it. My partner and I shot a combined 150(+6) for the weekend with a first day 77(+5) and a second day 73(+1)
