I dream of playing golf on a competitive college golf team. Golf is to me as words are to books. I have been playing golf since I was five years old. My first memories of golf were when my father picked me up from pre-school, and I would watch him play. I remember wanting to be like him. Even then, I wanted to be stronger and taller. I wanted to hit the ball far. I wanted to beat my dad. When I was seven, I started playing in VSGA 9-hole tournaments. When I was eight, I started playing in the PGA Junior League, where I fell even more in love with the game because of how fun it is to spend time competing with others my age and contributing to winning matches.
PGA Junior League is where I met my coach. She has helped me improve my golf swing as well as course management. She was the person who told me that I needed to get stronger, so I listened. I started working out, and even when it was hard, I kept at it, and I got a lot stronger. Now, I am proud to say that how far I hit the golf ball with my Driver, woods, and irons is one of the strengths of my game. This summer, I will play in more Peggy Kirk Bell and AJGA tournaments, and I look forward to playing challenging courses and strengthening my game.
I am planning to pursue an advanced diploma in high school. During middle school, I have already earned five credits toward my high school diploma. My current plans for college are to major as an actuarial analyst because I am good at math and find it interesting.
I have been a Girl Scout for ten years. I have earned my Bronze Award and my Silver Award. For my Girl Scout Silver Award, I created the Amherst County Parks Passport Program to promote the usage of the county parks. My other hobbies include sewing, quilting, reading, baking, knitting, playing clarinet, and playing with my dog, Bruno.
I am excited about my future as a golfer; I look forward to playing on a college golf team!
