My name is Owen Baldwin and I am a 6’3”, 160 pound forward from Langley, British Columbia. I am an avid Physics/Math student looking to pursue an education in Engineering with a notable interest in Aerospace Engineering. As I move into Grade 12, I will be taking on a new challenge as I move to California to play Junior A hockey for the San Diego Sabers while completing my high school education online.
My ice hockey journey began later than most as I started at the age of 11. I was introduced to the game via ball hockey which I have played since age 5. I have been lucky enough to play representative ball hockey for my region/province for several years now. This past Summer I represented British Columbia at the U17 National Championships winning a gold medal. I also grew up playing various sports including soccer and volleyball.
I am a hard working 2 way forward with good size who likes to be physical. I enjoy my role as a penalty killer and pride myself on defensive responsibility and being hard to play against, using my size and reach to take away time and space. I enjoy practice as I continue to evolve and improve my game at both ends of the rink. Last season, I was awarded the Teammate of the Year award by my coaching staff after being awarded the Defensive Forward of the Year award the previous season. I continue to work hard off the ice and in the gym to take my game to the next level. This season my coach at the Sabers has transitioned me to defence where I an continuing my hockey education/developing new skills required for the position.
