Personal Statement
My name is Dylan Anderson I am a senior at Braintree High School where I am completing my 3rd year as a varsity goaltender. I’ve played hockey since I was 8 years old. I’ve never made an A team and I never played at Lake Placid. I’ve been cut by various club teams and have been pulled during big games when I’ve been lit up. I’ve been told I was too small and passed over for bigger goalies my entire youth career. I wanted to quit many times, but my parents stayed on me, reminding me that I didn’t want to be the best 10-year-old, I wanted to be the best 18-year-old. I never understood that until now. As a freshman in high school my body started to catch up with my heart, I played 4 games and had 2 shut outs. Sophomore summer I grew 7 inches and put on 15 pounds. I continued to work hard and became a starter for varsity my sophomore year. I finished that season as a Baystate top goalie with a .934 save percentage and a 1.13 GAA. This summer I was recruited for and played on a top EHF team who went to the national championships in Michigan the previous year. All my hard work so far has paid off, I am now a 6 ‘2” senior playing at the top of my game. I am extremely coachable and hungry to get better and continue playing in college.
