Personal Statement
My name is Brian Ellis; I am 16 years old and am a Junior this year at L'Anse Creuse High School-North in Macomb, MI. I have a younger brother (who also plays hockey), two older sisters, and a nephew. I also have a pet beagle named Easton. I have a part-time job at the Mt. Clemens Ice Arena (MI) where I work approximately 10 hours per week as a skate guard. In school, I am a member of the Leadership Council and take mainly College Prep classes. I have averaged a 3.0 GPA to this point. Outside of school, my hobbies mainly consist of boating and golfing. I am currently 5'9" tall and weigh 140 pounds.
As far as hockey goes, it has always been my dream to play college hockey at the most competitive level I can. I work my hardest in practices and games, on and off the ice, because I believe that trying your hardest is the key to being successful in anything you do. I played seven years of travel hockey at a very competitive level and made it to States in 2006. During travel hockey, I was awarded MVP in multiple tournaments. Also, I attended six years of the Future Pro summer goalie camp with Steve McKichan. For the spring season of 2010 I was chosen to be one of three Assistant Captains on my high school team. Just recently, after the 2010 Spring season, I attended the Michigan State University Hockey Camp. The camps evaluator wrote that I have a strong skill set and my play demonstrated my ability quite well. He also said that my play was strong during the drills and that I showed great quickness. In the 09-10 seasons, my total stats came out to a 2.63 Goals Against Average and a .905 Save Percentage in 33 games. The 2010-2011 season will be my third year with the Varsity Ice Hockey team.
