Kyle Clifford '17 Recruiting Profile

I am a defenseman and attend St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute in Buffalo New York. I have been playing hockey my whole life. I currently play for the Buffalo Regals 16u hockey team. Last year I played on 15u midget minor buffalo regals, I played in the SCTA Ontario Minor Hockey Association hockey league. My team was the only American hockey team in this league Playing against top tier teams with kids going top 10 in the OHL. I am known for my unique gameplay of physicality, quick speed and hard shot. I play a physical 2 way defensive game style. I am not hesitant to join the rush with my speed to help make scoring chances more effective but also am able to recover quickly and play strong defense. My hockey career has had much success being on penalty kill and first line power play averaging one point per game. I've also been either a captain or co-captain on every hockey team I've ever played on, I consider myself a strong leader and motivator to my teammates. Along my journey I have experience in states for every major year I've played, also a state championship and USA state development camp for New York State 3 years in a row. My freshmen year I played high school hockey while playing a full season out of school travel schedule. I was the only freshmen defenseman to ever make the federation varsity team in the schools history. I am a two sport athlete as well, I also play lacrosse. I play on the varsity team at school ever since I was a freshmen. Not only the sport fraction of my life but my schooling and community life is very important to me as well. I am currently a 3.0 GPA student, running for student council every year in school and dedicate my time and love back to my community. I am a regular service helper at local food shelters, nursing homes, and help shipping supplies to poor foreign countries in need. I consider myself a good addition to any hockey program due to the fact that I am the most coach-able player and leader on and off the ice. Being the player I have grown into and accomplishments I have achieved I'm very enthusiastic to move to the next level and improve my game even more.
