As far back as I can remember hockey has always defined who I am. I first began skating when I was 2 years old and joined my first travel team when I was 5. I honestly can't remember any part of my life in which hockey wasn't a part of it in some way or form. This amazing sport has molded me and taught me many lessons that I constantly apply to my everyday life. Just a few of these examples would be determination, discipline, and how important teamwork is in order to be successful.
My parents have unselfishly supported me both mentally and financially to get me to where I am today. At one point I can remember going through a rough time when I wasn’t sure that I wanted to continue with my hockey career due to school and my personal life seeming to always clash with my hockey commitments. Without the support of my parents pushing me forward, and once again providing me with the resources to make sure I could succeed, I am sure I would not be where I am today. The amount of time and finances that they have provided to me is one of my main sources of motivation to succeed. Words can't explain my gratefulness to them for this, and that is why I let my actions and work ethic speak for me to show them my appreciation.
Academically, I push myself to work hard and achieve High Honors in high school all while incorporating pre-ap coursework. I excel in communication and enjoy courses in physical conditioning, health and wellness and nutrition. For these reasons, I am very interested in pursuing a degree in physical therapy. As for college, I will apply myself and do whatever is necessary to retain high honor status. I realize that education is very important to me and will help develop me for my future. I have worked hard to balance my education and athletic commitments, and will always place my education as a priority in my life.
I am very grateful in knowing that I have amazing opportunities to show my skill as both a hockey player and leader through my actions. Since hockey has taught me skills and lessons like nothing else could, I am capable of leading others to work as hard as I do and to earn the opportunities that they wish to achieve, whether that be with a sport, job, or personal gain.
The dedication and commitment I have put into hockey should stand out among others. I have been playing hockey since I was 4 years old, and I continue to love and cherish every moment I am able to step onto the ice. I will always work to the best of my ability to continue to positively represent my family, my team, and myself.
