As a goalie, I understand that I am competing in one of the most stressful positions in all of sports and I love it. Last year, my hometown of Roanoke, Viginia didn't have enough players for a team, and I had to find another team that had room for a new goalie. I found my home three hours away at the NC Golden Bears in Raleigh, NC. My first year in North Carolina, our team was unable to win many games but I always kept the games within reach. I ended the year with .919 save percentage while facing 320 shots in 15 games. This year, I chose to reclass since I was eligible for another year of U18 hockey and will now graduate high school in 2024. I'm anticipating graduating with at least eight AP classes and want to pursue biology or biomedical engineering in college. Even though I play a very demanding position, I am able to balance playing goalie and maintain a high GPA without allowing either school or sports to become overwhelming. I hope to find a college hockey experience where I can play high level hockey but continue my dream of becoming a scientist.
