My name is Christopher Restaino and I am in the class of 2025. I am a face off and midfielder for Stamford High School Varsity team. I started playing lacrosse with Stamford Youth Lacrosse during 1st grade and have continued through high school at Varsity level high school, in addition to CT City Lacrosse, ULAX and Express North. My primary position is a faceoff midfielder with a lot of passion for the game. Contrary to my size i enjoy playing against larger, more advanced FOGOs because i develop a stronger mentality as well as learn to adapt and overcome someone potentially better then me. When I play midfield I look for assists and pick setting but I will put the ball in the back of the net if the opportunity prevails. I am becoming a main dodger on offense as well to help look for the open man on crease.
As a freshman, I made the varsity team- let alone play, score, and contribute. I also played for the freshman and JV team where I was named MVP for the freshman team. I had played a combined 48 games which resulted in me playing every day of the week. It was tiring, but very rewarding being blessed enough to play every day. My sophomore year on the varsity team, I continued to score important game points as well as achieving 252 faceoff wins, 65%. This team went on for the first time in the history of Stamford High School to make CIAC states. Both Freshman and Sophmore year I was named MVP for the varsity team as well.
In my off season, I play for Express North Club Lacrosse as face off and midfielder. When I am not practicing, I train with Face Off Academy Connecticut and work out in the weight room 3 days a week as well as once a week 6am team practices before school and 10am weekend practices.
I train and push myself with players in and out of my town to become the best player I can. As such, I developed a bond with many of the high school players so I am confident that there will be team chemistry. I talk to my coaches and other face-off midfielders for them to help me become more advanced than my competition so I can always outplay them. When I do play with my team, I make sure to encourage them, so they get the energy we need to dominate the mental part of the game. When possible, I help my coaches with anything they need, like if they ask for an extra player for their team, I am the first one in line or to help set up and take down the nets for practice or to lay out the cones for a game.
In school, I am always in the most academically advanced courses I can get. I am taking all honors classes in high school. I make sure that all my grades are held to a high standard and put my all into school. I make sure to put a lot effort and time into work to succeed academically. I am also involved in a school program that is incredibly challenging with a positive reward. The program is known as ECS or Early College Studies. ECS is a program that allows me to study on college campuses locally like UCONN and NCC; I will have the opportunity to learn from professionals that work in the field I will be studying. When I complete the program, I will be able to receive enough credits to have an associate degree when I graduate high school. This program is free of cost which means I will be able to get a great education and have a financial advantage in the future giving me an opportunity to be financially stable earlier in my professional career.
In my spare time, I enjoy listening to music, playing the guitar and drums and have developed an interest in photography. I take pictures for other school sports and share them with the players and coaches tonhelp support and promote the other striving athletes in my school.
