I started rowing in late 2020 and fell in love with the team aspects of the sport and the personal challenges you must overcome to excel. In the four years since joining my program, I have found that the challenge that crew puts not only on your body but also your mind has consistently improved me as a person and as a team contributor. To make sure that I am consistently challenging myself I have made a point of being able to row all sides and all positions (save for coxswain) to expand my knowledge in all aspects of rowing, forever streamlining the dynamic of the boat in pursuit of the perfect stroke.
I also enjoy challenging myself outside of the boat where I am in the process of learning Russian as well as pursuing my pilot's license. I am a nature lover and spend days in the forest hiking, backpacking, and mountaineering with family and friends over breaks. Academically I enjoy a challenge as well, I am currently in my second year of IB Physics and I am pursuing a full IB diploma.
In college, I plan to continue rowing and follow my aspirations in engineering in aeronautics and aerospace. These two fields have played a large role in my life. The characteristics and dynamics of flight have fascinated me since I was small and watched my uncle, a Navy pilot, land his Growler at his hanger. I hope to pursue the study of Aeronautical engineering to the fullest degree. I have spent the past three summers attending week-long NASA-sponsored Aviation camps in Huntsville Alabama to continue my education in aviation and have begun to collect flight hours as I pursue my private pilot's license. I am also interested in history and hope to find a program that enables my pursuit of my combined interests.
I am so excited to bring my rowing career to new heights and continue to be an asset to my team through high school into college and beyond.
