Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Isabelle Jurinka, and I have been rowing for a little over a year. Rowing is definitely a sport I got a late start on, but one that has changed my life so much and continues to thrill me every single day we’re out on the water. Before rowing, I played soccer competitively for about 7 years, occasionally dabbling in other sports, as I was never really as committed. Rowing has given me an opportunity to meet some of my greatest friends and really move towards achieving my full potential. Through the hard work and dedication that this sport requires, I have been able to earn myself a spot in one of my team’s top boats, and joined the varsity crew despite having the least experience out of my teammates. I love rowing, (particularly sweeping) and can’t wait to row in college where broader horizons await.
