My main goal for college soccer is to achieve the greatest success possible while also obtaining a great education and pursuing my dream in sports medicine. Like many recruits that seek out their dreams in playing soccer, I work my hardest each and every time I step out onto the pitch. Unlike many others in the soccer community, I find that talent only pays off when backed by hard work. I realized that true impact of hard work will always outweigh the advantages of great skill. An example of this would be when my JV soccer team lost the league championship to John Burroughs in the 2016-2017 Winter season. Now although we were probably the most talented team, I realized that many of our players were not the most dedicated. Being the captain of the team, losing the league championship had a very harsh impact on me, and although I put in my 100% absolute effort in winning, I felt as if losing the championship was my fault. Overtime, however, I found that that was not so. By gaining further experience of the game, I learned that soccer cannot be a one man sport, especially if you play the midfielder position. Playing the defensive midfield position I find that I often rely on my teammate's positioning in order for myself to play well. As Iniesta once said, "You can be the greatest passer in the world, but if your teammates are not in the right position, then all of that is worthless." I think when it comes to college soccer, the one thing that puts me aside from the other players is my varied views of the game. On and off the pitch, I constantly think of tactics and strategies that I can use to improve my game. Complimentary to this, I also find that I love taking a leading role in my team. My coaches love how I always inspire others to give their 100% along with not giving up until the last whistle blows. This dedication also overflows into my academic career. Currently holding a weighted GPA of 4.17, I find that Cs and Bs are not grades I tend to accept. In everything I do I want to be the best. To me, being second just means you were the first one to fail.
