John Letona '15 Recruiting Profile

I would be very grateful to be given an opportunity to play at the college level as I thrive on competition and intense levels of play. I am not afraid of hard work and I give 110% on and off the field. I have played soccer since I was 4 and in Southern California  we play year round. I truly have love for the game of soccer. In my first year of High School soccer, I was pulled up to Varsity to fill in for injured players. I was captain of the JV soccer team and was awarded MVP. For the last three years I have been a starter for Varsity and usually play a full game except when we have a strong lead. I was fortunate to be selected for ODP/ Cal south Pro Plus in the Winter Pool 2014 and I was moved up to a starter position.We were lucky to win the regionals after defeating Washington 8-0 . We have been successful in our drive for the win and now are the National Champions for ODP 1997 for 2014 and again I was fortunate to be a starter for all of our games. Since joining my current soccer team, I am a starter on our presently undefeated team, for 21 games, in a very competitive bracket. We have just won the California Regional league and are headed to New Mexico to compete in the Far West Regionals through my club team, West Coast in June. I also aspire  to become a physical therapist and presently am in Sports Medicine 2 and am working as a TA for our High School athletic trainer. 

I am an aggressive player on the soccer field but I stay calm under pressure. I rotate as a Center Back and Right or Left attacking defender. One of my strengths in heading the ball due to my height and range. I love to get stuck in and take the game very seriously when I am on the field. I make excellent passes and am very much a team player. I am well known for my passing and assists. I am an excellent student and effectively  balance school, soccer and work. I have a very strong work ethic and will do my very best to deliver as an athlete and a student. I welcome feedback and want to thank you for taking time to look  at my profile.
