Hello, my name is Parker Skelton. I am a high school sophomore (class of 2026), who is writing this to briefly introduce myself to you and share my story, personal journey, and the reasons for continuing my soccer and academic commitment to my college career.
I would like to start by saying that I am a strong and committed student-athlete. Academically, my cumulative high school GPA which includes honor-level classes is 3.5 at Darien High School in Darien, Connecticut. During my freshman year, I was able to prove that I could successfully balance full-time academics while doing clubs like DECA and FCA while still juggling participation on 3 club teams at a regional and national level.
If I look beyond school, soccer came to me at a young age and has never left me. Soccer is the main fuel in my life and I would love to continue to have it through my years in college. I am a player who strives to push myself to the next level and will continue to work as hard as I can to prove myself and make myself better than I am at that moment. My best qualities as a player have to be my tactical awareness, technical ability, leadership, and vision. My tactical awareness throughout the games lets me read the game, communicate adjustments to my teammates, and be in the right place as a center mid. My technical abilities allow me to play in tight areas in the center of the park and hold on to the ball even when I'm under a lot of pressure. My leadership, as captain of my club team, wallows me to communicate with my teammates on the field so they know where they should be on and off the ball. While those attributes are all great my use of vision on the field is probably my best trait. I am able to be in a tight area get my head up and play the pass few others see. This vision allows me to play at a fast tempo but also allows the game for me to slow down because my head is always on a swivel and I know where I'm going to go with the ball before I even receive it. These qualities allow me to play at a high level of soccer while still loving the game.
Outside of soccer and school, I'm in clubs like DECA which is a competitive business class where I compete in competitions around the nation, and FCA which lets me get closer to god and the community around me. I also do volunteer work In my community like volunteering at my church or doing other things that help my community shine and become brighter every day.
These reasons are why I am a good candidate for most soccer programs around the nation. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement which highlights not only my soccer attributes and academics but also my character and how I use my time to better my community and the people around me. Please continue to follow my progress through my NCSA profile where you can see my highlights and accomplishments throughout my years in high school.
