My name is Luke Black, and I am currently a junior at FAU High School. Coachability is a fundamental trait that I believe I have cultivated throughout my soccer journey. I feel that being coachable is not only about following instructions, but also embracing feedback, seeking improvement, and adapting to playing styles. I also value constructive criticism as an opportunity for growth: whether it is on refining my positioning, enhancing my ball control, or perfecting my tactical understanding. I am committed to the process of becoming a better player. My willingness to put in the work, stay receptive to guidance, and adapt to new strategies has made me a more versatile and effective player. In addition, balancing academics and athletics has become a rewarding aspect of my life. My commitment to being a student-athlete extends beyond maintaining a good GPA (currently 3.93 unweighted): it involves time management, discipline, and a strong work ethic. I believe that the skills I have developed as a student-athlete, such as goal setting, perseverance, and teamwork, have a positive impact on my performance in both areas of my life. Furthermore, I recognize the importance of being a role model for my teammates and peers. I was ecstatic to be selected to be in the club SALT (student-athlete leadership team) for my school. In addition, my commitment to DECA (a business competition club) has allowed me to develop a passion for business which I would like to pursue throughout and after college. By maintaining a strong work ethic and growth mindset, I hope to inspire others to achieve their own academic and athletic goals. Thank you for your consideration.
