Hello, my name is Jackson Gallegos, and this is a little something you should know about me as well as my athletic and academic careers.
Most soccer athletes go through travel programs in their local area. However, I chose to go down a different route, choosing my own personal trainer and working one-on-one in my position, making me somewhat of a dark horse in soccer circles. On this path, I have played 3 years on a middle school team, two years on the junior varsity team at my high school (missing my sophomore year after contracting pneumonia), and being bumped up to varsity for the Florida South Regional Tournament. I have been training steadily for around 9 years now and wish to continue to grow throughout high school and progress on to the college level. As mentioned earlier, I played both junior varsity and varsity my junior year, participating in the Florida State Regional Tournament in early 2023 after our team became District 10-7A champions. For the 2023-24 season I was named the varsity starter, beginning with two clean sheets on the year. In June 2023, I trained and played with the professional team Mirassol F.C. in Sao Paolo, Brazil. During that time period I got much needed experience and got major insight into the tactics and culture surrounding Brazilian football, along with major international experience. Soccer is something I wish to pursue as long as I can, and I am always willing to work harder than anyone else to get there, and that is something I will always be willing to prove to any coach that lays eyes on me.
Regarding academics, I possess a 3.97 GPA and a 4.90 HPA at Jupiter Community High School and have a keen interest in European history and politics. I have given lectures in college level classes regarding early 20th century history, and possess a proficient level of knowledge about international events, relations, and diplomacy regarding world history regarding the last 150 years. I am a 2-time Florida State Scholastic Chess Champion in the years 2017 and 2020 for my grade level. I am also a member of the JROTC at the rank of Master Sergeant and have received many awards as a result of my leadership in the program. In college, I wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in business with a minor in history.
All in all, if I were to describe myself in a sentence, I would say I am always willing to go the extra mile, and push harder than anyone else to where I want to go, helping others as much as I can along the way.
