Personal Statement
Playing soccer since I was young, my life and persona have developed as a player. I've made it my goal now to continue this growth and development into the collegiate arena. I want to achieve success as a player and a person on the field and with a team of athletes who also seek to improve themselves and to succeed as a team. Being a captain for two years has taught me how important the word team is as well as how to keep a handle on them in tough games. Attitude wins games and as a goalkeeper it's my responsibility to keep the team focused, calm, and collected. I pride myself on my ability to communicate and lead my team and especially my defense.
Academics matter to me, and my competitiveness in the classroom is matched by my fierceness on the field. I've worked hard to balance athletics and maintaining a 3.9 GPA. My academic rigor and nature not only benefit me in school but on the field. Being an intelligent player is an extremely important trait, especially among goalkeepers, and I attribute it to my own ability to read the field and determine how I position myself, my defensive line, as well as how I distribute the ball. I seek to find a college that gives me the opportunity to develop as an athlete as well as challenge me as a scholar.
