How my soccer career has taken me from a small town player, to traveling the country to compete with some of the top youth academy players in the MLS, to being chosen to represent Cedar Stars Academy as one of the top 20 players in my age group out of approximately 150 players to represent Cedar Stars Academy in Denmark for the Capelli Sport Cup in July of 2022
I fell in love with soccer at a very young age (3 or 4 years old), and started playing "organized" soccer almost immediately due to of my strong interest. From the start, I loved the challenge and the feeling of competition. I followed the natural progression from recreation, to club, to ODP seeking stronger players to play with and against.
Each team I played with I was forced to prove myself and my ability, often being the youngest player on the roster. At times it was challenging, trying to compete with some top talent to work my way into the starting eleven. But the competition drove me to compete with myself and be a better player every time I stepped on the field. These challenges have taught me first hand something my father has said to me from the time I was a young child, "if you want something, you have to work for it. Nothing in life is handed to you."
Not only do I challenge myself on the field for the sport I love, but I also challenge myself as a student. I focus in class an study hard to get good grades which is reflected in my 3.8 GPA and expected to increase by the end of this school year. My attitude in class is the same as it is on the field, "hard work pays off."
As a player I continued challenging myself first playing for a USYS National League team, then becoming an Elite 64 team, to now playing against some of the top players in the country in MLS Next. As mentioned, I was also chosen by my club Cedar Stars Academy as one of the top 20 players in my age group out of approximately 150 players to represent Cedar Stars Academy in Denmark for the Capelli Sport Cup in July of 2022. My next challenge is to play at the collegiate level for a highly regarded academic college/university to prepare for my future.
