- My name is Matthew Roth, my friends call me Tate. My goal in college is to put forth hard work to achieve and excel in actuarial science, as well as in soccer. I expect to grow in character and strengthen my communication and organizational skills. I am interested in learning about computer science, economics, mathematics, physics, and statistics while in college.
- I am a good candidate for the team, as I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old and competitively since I was 8 years old. I have played in the Olympic Development Program for a total of three years, a club team for 7 years, and my school team for 4 years. My ability to communicate with my teammates while playing the game has contributed to my growth and development as a player. I have a very strong touch with the ball, as I have worked on my footwork constantly throughout my journey in soccer. I take advantage of opportunities to learn new skills, techniques, and corrections from coaches. Fortunately, I have learned goalie skills from over five different coaches specializing in goalkeeping.
I am very smart, as I maintain a high GPA and I am good at solving many kinds of problems. For example, I have a younger sister who often struggles with math and history. She often asks me to help her with homework since I understand math so easily and she tells me I am a good teacher. I am optimistic and I like to have fun and goof off sometimes, but I am focused when on the field.
