My name is Jared Starr and I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my team mates would talk about pursuing pro soccer, I would talk about pursing soccer in the NCAA. I love the game. Soccer has been a way of life for me and I truly believe that it has made me a better human being. I know playing in the NCAA would be a life changing experience and a challenge like none other. I want to prove that I am up for that challenge. I am a goalkeeper and we process the world in a different way.
I am currently the goalkeeper for the Saskatchewan EXCEL U19 program in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I was the goalkeeper for 5 years with the Saskatchewan Whitecaps Academy prior. I joined the ranks of U17 at the age of 13. I have also been training with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies goalkeeper coach since the age of 12. On top of soccer, I train 4-5 days per week with strength training in the gym. I have a work ethic that is second to none. As a result of my dedication, I was a Team Canada U17 invitee in 2022. I was not selected but the experience was invaluable and has given me further motivation to pursue my goals of playing in the NCAA.
I go to the Centennial Collegiate in Saskatoon. I have been on the Honour Roll for grades 9, 10 and 11. I currently have a 87% grade point average. I played volleyball with the junior varsity team and the senior varsity team. I also play club volleyball. I like to do art and hang around with friends in my spare time. I have attended ID camps at UMass, Stanford, Harvard, Villanova and Penn State. They were all great experiences. I believe all of my life experiences have prepared me for the next step in my soccer journey. I am ready for the jump to the NCAA, I just need to be given the opportunity.
