Personal Statement

I am a  senior at McCallum High School and am in the Fine Arts Program with a focus on band. I play in both the marching band and the Wind Ensemble. I take pre-AP and AP classes at McCallum.  Recently, I won a gold medal at the State UIL for Music for my playing of the clarinet, and have been named to the Wind Ensemble, the top orchestra. In addition to music, I am very interested in math -- recently getting a 5 on the AP exam for Calculus -- and science.

Finally, there is of course soccer. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 on various recreational and club teams. The last few years I have been playing on select club teams at a high level -- including the River City Rangers 01 Team, the Lone Stars 00/99 team and now the 00/01 Lone Stars Red team-- which is a Texas Champions League League team and is very competitive.

Last year, as a junior, I was the starting attacking midfielder at McCallum on the varsity team. We made the play-offs for the first time in many years. I ended the season with six goals and six assists, and was also named to the first team in our Austin Independent School District all-star team.

Finally, in my busy life, I am a member of Troop 28, which is hosted by First Lutheran English Church. I have been to Philmont as the crew leader and am about to go a second time.   I have already completed my Eagle project and only need to complete my application to be an Eagle, as I have finished all my required merit badges.

I am a very busy young man, with band, soccer, boy scouts and academics but I would be very interested in continuing to play soccer at a good academic college. Hopefully somewhere that is also good for hiking,  music and science. I have a particular interest in biology, ecology and marine biology.

Club Information

  • Seasons of Club Experience:
  • 4 seasons
  • 2018 Lonestar Red 00/01 (Champions League)
  • Notes: I will place our schedule up soon once the season begins
  • 2017 Lone Star Soccer Club TX (99/00 UCL - Champions League in South Texas )
  • Notes: I switched from River City Rangers to Lonestar SC, as I made a better team that plays a higher level of soccer, I will be playing in the Champion League equivalent to the Premier League
  • Season Schedule
  • 2016 2016-2017 Rangers 2000 Team (Division One)
  • Notes: Because of the change nationally, I had to move up to the 2000 team since I was born in 2000. So I am playing in the Rangers but moving up with those born in 2000. I have a new coach, Steve Elizalde. We had a tough season on the new team, losing most of our games. I played mainly attacking midfield. I personally had a good season, scoring four goals and making 8 assists, but our team had problems!
  • 2016 River City Rangers (Austin) (State Classic/ State Cup Spring)
  • Notes: I have played several years for River City Rangers. For 2016, we were successful making the regional playoffs for the State Cup but losing 1-0 to a good Lone Star team. I played a variety of positions from central midfield to right midfield to occasionally striker.
