Personal Statement
One of my earliest memories is of me playing soccer, the beautiful game. Soccer has been such an integral part of my life that I cannot imagine my life without it. Some might say, “It’s just a sport” but for me the game has taught me many important life skills that have helped me both on and off the field. The game has taught me perseverance, resilience, patience, discipline and the importance of teamwork.
While growing up I was never a big physical presence on the pitch. I was shorter and weaker than most players on the field. This motivated me to work on my technical abilities since I believe the best way for me to compete with these players was to work on my touch and skills. I also began working out to increase my strength. Between 9th and 10th grade I had a growth spurt that put me at a decent height and I am now one of the taller players on the field. I have continued to work in the gym and on my touch, and I consider myself a good technical and physical presence on my team. This early struggle helps me every day when I step on the pitch and even projects into other aspects of my life where challenges are met. My perseverance, discipline and resilience have also helped me with my academic pursuits.
My father is from France and my mother is from Ireland. I am bilingual in both French and English. Since Kindergarten I have attended an International School and have been surrounded by students of all nationalities and cultures. I believe this diverse background has been instrumental in helping me adapt to and accept many differing points of views and has lead me to be an open-minded individual.
I am intent on finding a school where I can continue to play soccer, achieve my academic goals and keep growing to be the best that I can be. I am confident that wherever I play I will be great asset to the team and will bring with me a great winning spirit!!
