Jackson Medina '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jackson Perez-Medina and I love soccer! I have been playing soccer my entire life, began P1 soccer at the age of 12, and have been on multiple competitive soccer clubs and teams simultaneously for over 10 years. Since I first stepped onto the field, I have aspired to play both at the collegiate and professional levels. Becoming a professional soccer player has always been a dream of mine, ever since I was a little kid. Whenever anyone would ask me what I want to be when I grow up, I have always said without hesitation, “a professional soccer player”. Soccer is my world. I eat, drink, and breathe the game. I have the ultimate "fire in the belly" to reach all of my soccer goals and ambitions, and am very self-motivated to work hard no matter what it takes to achieve all of my dreams. My vision is crystal clear on how I want to succeed and my daily performance parallels my aim.

From playing on extremely competitive statewide programs year round both in high school and club teams, I have been honored to participate in and receive multiple awards, including 2023 statewide Utah Keeper of the Year for 5A Varsity, 2023 5A Varsity 1st Team All-State Champions as Team Captain and Keeper, 2023 Varsity 1st Team All-Region, 2023 Varsity 1st Team All-Area, 2022 Varsity Team Captain, 1st Team All-Region, 2nd Team All-State, 2021 Junior Varsity Team and 5A Varsity All-State Team Champs and Regional Champs with additional club season history that includes 2023 Xolos Utah, 2023 Liga MX Xolos Tijuana, Mexico U18 & U20, 2022 Metasport, 2022 Villareal North American Select Team, 2022 Provo Athletic Club & UPSL Mountain West Champions, 2020 Comba and 2019 Heber Valley Soccer Club.

I continuously strive to be one of the hardest working players on my team, motivate my team members on the field, and improve my skills, value and personal performance. I have been voted Team Captain twice by my club and high school teammates, and was the team captain and keeper for our 2023 5A All-State Varsity Championship win. I have felt very honored to perform in such a leadership role and consider myself tremendously dedicated to those I play with and those I play for. 

Building and maintaining the trust and friendship of my teammates and coaches through solid integrity, hard work, and the way I treat others, is the one of the most important things to me both on and off the field. The trust I have built with peers is reflective of the way I have treated team members throughout the years. 

As a top player in both my local and extended soccer family communities, I also strive for excellence in my academic performance. I have worked hard to achieve the balance between education and extracurricular sports. My grades and growth are reflective of this and very important to me. I have been able to maintain a minimum 3.7 GPA throughout high school, and still sustain the tremendous level of personal commitment to soccer that is so inherently within me.

I love this game more than anything in the world, and know I have what it takes to be successful both physically and mentally. Whether it's free time playing soccer with friends on a field, training professionally with MLS coaches, or practicing by myself in the backyard, I choose to play because it makes me happy. Outside of my regular 4 club practices weekly, I also meet with a physical trainer 3 times a week to work on my physical fitness, mental strength, core, speed, and agility. I am an extremely solid keeper and very strong on the field! Being recruited at a collegiate level at this time would help me achieve my goals and I know what a huge asset I will be to any team I play with. I am stoked for the future with soccer and academics. I am ready to succeed!
