Personal Statement
My name is Matthew Carr. I am from American fork Utah. I have been playing soccer for 14 years. I have been playing at the club level for 9 years. I play for Utah Surf in the state's highest division (P1). I have played for my age group along with the one above me last year while playing for Utah Rangers FC, which included appearances with the team in the Utah state cup. This team is regarded as one of if not the best team in Utah. I am used to the college level of coaching and style of play as I have played for two coaches with many years of college coaching experience. I have played under Steve Magleby (BYU men's assistant coach, BYU women assistant coach) and Matt Ellinger ( Central Arkansas men's assistant coach, University of Utah men's head coach, and Utah Valley University men's assistant.) My high school varsity coach also played division 1 soccer in California. I have been playing soccer at my high school since my freshman year, with varsity time every year. My freshman year varsity time included a late winner in the state tournament. One of my strongest attributes as a player and as a person, I believe is my never say die mentality. No task is too hard, no scoreline is too impossible to overcome, and no physical challenge is too demanding. I feel I am able to brush things off very easily and not let things or people get under my skin.
