Ever since I was a child, I have always been very active in sports. In fact, my first word was “ball.” My entire life has revolved around sports, whether I was kicking the ball around on the pitch, swinging for the fences, or even going for gold on the track. But by the age of 12, my focus intensified on soccer as it rose above the others. Although I wasn’t yet at the level that I wanted to be, I knew what I had to do. I worked hard, day in and out, putting 110% effort into everything I did and within a couple of years I was playing on the top team in my club. I am very coachable and value all insight that is provided in order to make me a better player.
Academically, I have also always given 110%. My family values the importance of a strong education and has always helped push me to perform at my highest ability in the classroom. Because of my work ethic and my family’s support, I have maintained a 3.9 GPA while taking Honors and AP classes. In addition, I am a youth mentor for Athletes for Kids which provides support and companionship to children with special needs. My mentee is a ten year old boy who has oppositional defiance disorder. We play soccer, basketball and just basically goof around together. I am learning as much from him as I think he is learning from me.
I believe I am an asset to any team that I play with. I bring a positive attitude, a motivated spirit, and a disciplined effort. I believe any strong team requires these attributes in order to be successful. I’m often asked by my coaches to provide silent leadership through actions in order to promote teamwork and unity. I look forward to continuing my soccer and academic journey at the collegiate level.
